Food Industry Productivity and Safety Gets a Boost with Innovative iPad Solution
February 18th, 2014
AUSTIN, Texas — Alchemy Systems, the global leader in food and workplace safety, today announced a new solution to help food companies drive production efficiencies and improve worker safety. Coach is a mobile app that helps conduct safety and productivity observations right on the plant floor. With Coach, companies can also validate safety training and compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The Coach app is integrated with the Alchemy platform, the world’s leading food safety training and compliance platform, developed by Alchemy over a decade ago. Alchemy is used by more than 400,000 employees at over 1,700 facilities worldwide and delivers over eight million training sessions per year.
Empirical research shows that when front-line supervisors and managers perform safety and operational reviews on the production floor, compliance increases by up to 26%. Coach app enables an easy-to-use, mobile way to conduct reviews and provide both remedial and positive feedback to front-line employees.
“The food industry has made tremendous progress in developing best practices for safety and production, says Jeff Eastman, CEO of Alchemy. “With the new Coach app, companies can provide front-line supervisors and managers with a valuable tool to implement the best practices and develop a culture for continuous improvement. Coach also enables companies to easily document the many hours of on-the-job training they provide to front-line workers.”
The Coach app is currently available on the Apple iOS platform and works on Apple iPads and iPad Minis. Future versions will support additional tablet operating systems. “The Coach app is very intuitive for employees with all levels of comfort with technology. Managers, team leads, operators, supervisors and internal auditors have all used the Coach app effortlessly,” says Katie Christ at FONA International a Flavor based manufacturer. “It has really increased face-to-face communication between supervisors and employees and between internal auditors and auditees. The observation sessions act as one-on-one refresher training sessions where employees feel connected and engaged.”
Coach app will be demonstrated at Alchemy’s booth at the Global Food Safety Conference (February 26 – 28) in Anaheim, California. In addition, Alchemy executive Laura Nelson will moderate conference panel discussion on strengthening food safety culture (February 27th).
